The Best Venues for Corporate Events in Cape Town

As a Cape Town corporate photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to work at some of the city’s finest venues, capturing everything from intimate board meetings to large-scale conferences. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate how important the right venue is, not just for the success of the event, but also for the quality of the photography. Whether it’s a product launch or a corporate seminar, the venue’s lighting, layout, and ambiance play a huge role in creating visually compelling images.

If you’re planning a corporate event in Cape Town, here are some top venues to consider. I’ve worked at a few of them and can provide insight into what makes each venue stand out from a photography perspective.

1. Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC)

Location: Foreshore, Cape Town

The CTICC is Cape Town’s go-to venue for large-scale conferences, exhibitions, and corporate events. It offers flexible event spaces with state-of-the-art facilities, perfect for both small and large gatherings. The modern architecture, ample lighting, and spacious interiors make it an ideal setting for corporate photography. I’ve photographed several corporate events at the CTICC, and it never disappoints in terms of providing clean, professional backdrops for key moments like presentations and networking.

2. The Westin Cape Town

Location: Convention Square, Lower Long Street

Located right next to the CTICC, The Westin Cape Town is a venue I’ve worked in often. The modern meeting rooms and executive boardrooms are equipped with advanced AV technology, making it great for conferences or high-level corporate events. What I particularly enjoy about photographing here is the abundance of natural light, which brings out the professionalism and energy in corporate headshots and group shots. The surrounding cityscape also provides a stunning backdrop for networking or cocktail events.

3. Ellerman House

Location: Bantry Bay, Cape Town

Ellerman House is a luxurious boutique hotel perfect for small, high-end corporate gatherings or executive retreats. Known for its exclusivity and breathtaking ocean views, the venue provides an elegant and intimate setting for corporate events. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to shoot here yet, its sophisticated interiors, contemporary art collection, and beautiful gardens offer the perfect setting for refined and polished corporate photography. For companies seeking privacy and top-tier service, Ellerman House is a fantastic option.

4. Quoin Rock

Location: Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands

For corporate events outside of Cape Town, Quoin Rock in the Cape Winelands is a spectacular venue. Known for its world-class wine and stunning scenery, Quoin Rock offers a range of indoor and outdoor spaces perfect for high-end corporate functions, gala dinners, and year-end celebrations. The sweeping vineyard views and modern architecture provide a unique blend of nature and sophistication, which makes for visually compelling event photography. While I haven’t shot here yet, Quoin Rock’s ambiance is ideal for capturing both the luxury and the warmth of corporate events in the Winelands.

5. Workshop17 Watershed

Location: V&A Waterfront

Workshop17 is one of the more creative and dynamic spaces in Cape Town. With its open-plan design, this venue is perfect for collaborative workshops, team-building sessions, or networking events. While I haven’t had the chance to shoot here yet, I’ve visited the venue, and its industrial-chic aesthetic offers plenty of opportunities for capturing candid, innovative moments. It’s ideal for companies looking for a more relaxed, creative atmosphere for their events.

6. The Lookout at the V&A Waterfront

Location: V&A Waterfront

One of Cape Town’s most visually striking venues, The Lookout is perfect for large corporate functions, product launches, or year-end celebrations. With breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, it’s hard to beat in terms of location. Although I haven’t shot an event here yet, I’ve scouted the venue and can see how the sweeping views and indoor-outdoor flow would make for excellent event photography, especially for sunset functions.

I’ve photographed a few events at nearby venues, and the 12 Apostles’ stunning setting offers a perfect backdrop for elegant, high-end corporate photography. The natural light and luxurious interiors lend themselves beautifully to professional headshots, team photos, and candid event coverage.

The architecture and art displays offer an opportunity to create standout corporate images that reflect innovation and creativity.

9. The Century City Conference Centre

Location: Century City, Cape Town

This venue is another popular choice for large-scale corporate events. The Century City Conference Centre offers modern, high-tech facilities and is perfect for seminars, conferences, or trade shows. Although I haven’t photographed here yet, I’m familiar with the space and the modern aesthetic it offers. Its well-lit, spacious interiors would work well for capturing the flow of corporate events and dynamic interactions between attendees.

10. Two Oceans Aquarium

Location: V&A Waterfront

For something completely different, the Two Oceans Aquarium provides a unique and visually stimulating backdrop for corporate events. Imagine hosting your corporate function surrounded by marine life! I haven’t shot here yet, but from a photographer’s perspective, this venue offers an array of interesting lighting and visual elements that can make your corporate event stand out in photographs.

Why Venue Choice Matters for Corporate Event Photography

When organizing a corporate event, your choice of venue directly impacts how the event is captured. As an experienced Cape Town corporate photographer, I understand how to use each venue’s unique features to enhance the storytelling of your event. Whether it’s the elegant interiors of the 12 Apostles or the industrial vibes of Workshop17, a good venue can elevate your event photography from functional to truly memorable.

When working at venues like the CTICC or The Westin, the modern, professional backdrops help reinforce your company’s brand image. On the other hand, venues like the Two Oceans Aquarium or The Lookout offer unique perspectives that create a more relaxed, dynamic feel for year-end functions or product launches.
