Most people know me for corporate headshots and event photography. Fewer know that studio hire is one of the services I offer.
I work from a daylight studio in Woodstock, and I book it out by the half day or the full day. If you are a photographer, a brand, or a business that needs a clean, light-filled space to shoot in, you do not have to build one. You can hire this one. Here is what it is, who uses it, and what it costs.
Where the studio is
The studio is on the 4th floor of the Saltcircle Building at 19 Kent Street, Woodstock, a few minutes from the Cape Town CBD and easy to reach from the Southern Suburbs and the V&A Waterfront. It has lift access, air conditioning, and multiple power circuits for strobes or continuous lighting.
The defining feature is light. Large north-facing windows give the room usable daylight from morning through late afternoon, so a natural-light shoot holds up across a full day.

Who hires it
The space suits any brief that needs a controlled room and a bit of styling without a build day. In practice, that means:
- Brand and product shoots
- Personal branding sessions
- Video production and podcasting
- Fashion test shoots and casting
- Headshot, portrait, and content days for working photographers
It is not the right room for everything. It cannot take vehicle shoots, events or parties, or productions that need major set construction or very high ceilings. If your brief fits the list above, though, it is ready to shoot in as it stands.
What is included
Every booking comes with the furniture, props, and backdrops already in the room, so you arrive and start working:
- A white PVC backdrop and a black fabric backdrop
- A Chesterfield sofa, a red leather chaise lounge, and a cream single seater
- A 1.8m ornate gold mirror, a clothing rail, and a high makeup chair
- Wooden stools, three sets of apple boxes in natural, black, and white
- A kettle, microwave, fridge, and sink

You are welcome to bring your own lighting and set it up in the space. The studio has multiple power circuits that handle strobes and continuous lighting comfortably, so you can rig the setup your shoot needs. Lighting is the one thing not included in the hire, so bring your own strobes, continuous lights, modifiers, and stands, along with your camera kit and tether cables. The large north-facing windows also mean many shoots need very little added light at all.
What it costs
Pricing is simple and covers the full working space, furniture, and props:
- Half day, any 4-hour block between 9am and 5pm: R1,000
- Full day, 8 hours: R1,800
A refundable damage deposit of R1,000 is payable with the booking and returned within seven working days after the shoot, assuming no damage and no excessive cleaning. After-hours and weekend bookings can be arranged directly.
For agencies and corporate buyers, rentals are invoiced under Jürgen’s Photography CC. The business is a B-BBEE Level 4 EME with 100% procurement recognition and is registered on the CSD, so it slots cleanly into most procurement processes.
How to book
Bookings run off a live calendar, so the slots you see are genuinely open. Pick a date and a block, and you receive a confirmation by email with the banking and access details. Payment is due on or before the shoot day. I reply to enquiries the same working day.
You can see the full inventory, the location map, and the calendar on the studio hire page. If you have a specific brief and want to check it will work in the space before booking, send me a note at jurgen@jurgen.co.za and I will tell you honestly whether it is a fit.
