The brief

A written brief before every corporate event in Cape Town

Good event photography starts before the event. A structured brief covers the key moments, the people who must appear, the order of the programme, and any specific deliverables for communications or press.

On the day, the photographer should not be the centre of attention. The brief is followed, moments are anticipated rather than interrupted, and the room stays focused on the event, not the lens.

Edited images are delivered within two working days. For events with immediate social media requirements, a live social drops package can be arranged with on-site selects delivered during breaks.

Photography + video

Photography and video, coordinated from a single brief.

For galas, product launches, awards evenings, and multi-day conferences, still photography and video often need to work together. Where this is the case, I coordinate with a trusted video partner so both disciplines are briefed from the same document. Nothing falls through the gap between stills and video.

Both are scoped and quoted together from the outset, so the brief is consistent and there are no surprises on the day.

Common questions

What clients ask before booking an event photographer in Cape Town

How do you ensure we get the shots we need?

Every event starts with a written brief. We agree on the key moments, the must-have shots, and the people who need to appear in the coverage. I work from that brief throughout the event, not from guesswork.

Can you cover a multi-day conference?

Yes. Multi-day conference coverage is quoted as a full daily rate. I can also work alongside a videographer for events that need both still and video coverage.

How quickly do we receive the images?

Edited images are delivered within two working days as standard. For events with a same-day or next-morning social media requirement, a live social drops package can be arranged in advance.

Do you work at venues outside Cape Town?

I am based in Cape Town and work primarily across the metro and Winelands. Travel for shoots further afield is possible and quoted case by case.

Can you also photograph the headshots for speakers or executives at the event?

Yes. Speaker portraits or executive headshots can be added to any event booking. These are photographed during breaks or before the main programme begins.

What does event photography cost in Cape Town?

Event photography is priced based on duration, the type of event, and whether additional services such as a second shooter or live social drops are required. Half-day coverage starts from R 6,000 and full-day coverage from R 9,600, with multi-day events quoted on a daily rate. The final cost is confirmed in a written quote before anything is booked.

What are your event photography packages?

Packages are structured around the event brief rather than fixed tiers, because no two events are the same. A standard package covers a written brief, on-site coverage for the agreed duration, edited image delivery within two working days, and web and print resolution files. Add-ons include a live social drops service (edited selects delivered during breaks for same-day posting), a second shooter for large or multi-room events, and speaker or executive headshots during breaks. Every package starts with a written quote.

What types of corporate events do you cover in Cape Town?

Conferences and multi-day summits, gala dinners, awards ceremonies, product launches, staff engagement events, and year-end functions. Each event type has its own brief and visual priorities. A conference brief centres on speakers, panels, and delegate interaction. A gala brief focuses on ambience, candid moments, and formal group photography. The approach is shaped by the event type and the downstream use of the images.

Which Cape Town event venues do you regularly work at?

The CTICC, Century City Conference Centre, Westin Cape Town, Belmond Mount Nelson, and V&A Waterfront venues are regularly booked. Gala and awards work also covers the Zeitz MOCAA, Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, and Groot Constantia. Venue familiarity matters in practice: lighting conditions, access routes, and the layout of each space affect how coverage is planned and where to position for key moments.

Do you have experience in specific industries?

A significant proportion of event work has been in the energy sector, financial services, and professional associations. Clients including Astron Energy, Juwi Renewables, and Citywire SA hold events where the visual record serves specific downstream purposes: press releases, annual reports, conference proceedings, and social media. Industry familiarity helps with anticipating which moments carry the most weight for a particular client.

Cape Town event photography experience

Seventeen years of corporate event photography in Cape Town

Seventeen years of corporate event photography in Cape Town covers a considerable range. The brief for a product launch at a V&A Waterfront venue and the brief for a multi-day scientific congress at the CTICC call for entirely different approaches. What stays constant is the discipline of working to a written shot list agreed before the event begins.

A significant proportion of this work has been in the energy sector, financial services, and professional associations. Clients including Astron Energy, Juwi Renewables, and Citywire SA hold events where the visual record serves a specific downstream purpose: press releases, annual reports, conference proceedings, and social media that has to perform the same week the event runs. Understanding the purpose behind the images, not just the programme, shapes the shot list.

After more than 500 events, Cape Town's principal venues are familiar ground. The CTICC, Century City Conference Centre, and Westin Cape Town each have their own lighting characteristics and access logistics. A gala at the Belmond Mount Nelson presents different considerations from an awards evening at the Zeitz MOCAA or a conference at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch. Venue familiarity removes a layer of on-the-day uncertainty and keeps the focus on the event itself.

Post-event use shapes every shooting decision. Images from a corporate event in Cape Town typically need to work across several channels at once: a press release, an annual report, internal communications, LinkedIn, and the company website. Shooting with those downstream uses in mind, rather than treating them as an afterthought, is what makes a delivered gallery genuinely useful.
