The difference
A content asset, not just a credential
A headshot is a credential. It confirms that you are a professional, that you take your work seriously, and that you are present on the platforms where people look you up. A personal branding image library is something different. It is a content asset, built to serve multiple platforms and contexts simultaneously, and planned in advance around how it will actually be used.
The platforms that benefit from variety include LinkedIn (profile image, banner, article header), the speaking circuit (conference programme bios, event landing pages), media coverage (press releases, journalist requests, podcast features), and owned content channels (newsletters, social feeds, website about pages). A single strong headshot cannot do all of that work without starting to look repetitive. A well-planned branding session gives you images in different settings, at different focal lengths, with different energy, so the library holds up across a full year of use.
Sessions are built around a brief, not a shot list imposed on the subject. The brief covers the audience, the platforms, the professional context, and the impression the client wants to make. That conversation shapes the locations, the styling direction, and the range of shots. Jürgen has shot personal branding content for executives in professional services, energy, and finance in Cape Town, including work for clients in the Juwi Renewables and Astron Energy space as well as owner-managed professional services firms.
Every session includes on-set direction and real-time review of images on screen. Subjects who are not comfortable being photographed, which is most people, leave with a library they are proud of, because the direction is continuous and the feedback loop is immediate. There is no guessing about what you will receive.
Where the images go
One session. A library that lasts months
A personal branding session is planned around your platforms and use cases. The result is a set of images you can draw from across different contexts without everything looking the same.
- LinkedIn profile and banner
- Speaker bio and conference materials
- Press and media appearances
- Website about and team pages
- Podcast and newsletter imagery
- Pitch decks and investor presentations
- Social media content library
Common questions
Before your session
Who books personal branding sessions?
Executives, consultants, coaches, founders, lawyers, financial advisers, and anyone who is visible in a professional capacity and needs a library of images beyond a single headshot. If you are building a personal brand, speaking at events, or being featured in press regularly, a branding session gives you the material to support that.
What is the difference between a headshot and a personal branding session?
A headshot is a single strong portrait. A personal branding session produces a library: portraits, lifestyle images, environmental shots, and contextual images that give you variety for different platforms and uses. The session is planned around how and where the images will be used.
How do I prepare for a branding session?
Before the session, we have a brief conversation about your brand, your audience, and the platforms you are active on. That shapes the shot list, the locations, and the styling. You bring two or three outfit options and I handle the rest.
Where do the location shots happen?
Locations are chosen based on the brief. Cape Town has good options: the city bowl, the Waterfront, parks, coffee shop environments, architecture that suits a professional context. Specific location preferences are discussed in the pre-session brief.
Can the session include video or reels content?
Jürgen's Photography focuses on stills. For sessions that also need short-form video content, I can refer you to a trusted associate videographer, Kat Willemse at House of Vizion, who can work alongside the shoot.
"I've worked with Jürgen at two different companies. When moving to my current company, I made sure to reach out to him for all of our professional corporate photography needs. He has an aura about him that is so comforting, it brings out the best in people in photos. He is filled with great ideas and clearly has the knowledge and know-how to make your brand shine."
