The process
Three steps from brief to delivery
The brief
Share the event programme, the product, the reveal sequence, and the downstream usage for the images. A pre-event call is available for launches with complex staging or media requirements.
On the day
Event coverage follows the programme. Product detail shots are done during a designated window with controlled positioning. Live social drops available for launches with real-time posting requirements.
Delivery
Edited images delivered within two working days via a private online gallery. Press-ready selects and product images formatted separately for immediate distribution. High-resolution download access included.
What gets covered
A shot list agreed before the launch
Product launches involve two different types of photography: event coverage and product photography. Both require a different approach on the day. The brief defines which is the priority and how the two are sequenced.
- Product reveal moment
- Keynote and presenter coverage
- Guest arrivals and registration
- Product detail and beauty shots
- Brand activations and experiential stations
- Audience reactions and candids
- Media and press interactions
- Networking and post-launch mingling
Product launch context
Product launch photography in Cape Town
Most product launches need two things from a photographer: coverage of the event as an occasion, and images of the product itself. These are different skills and different working modes, and combining them into a single brief requires planning.
The event coverage side follows the standard approach: a written programme, priority moments identified in advance, unobtrusive presence on the day, delivery within two working days. The product photography side needs a dedicated window, typically during a cocktail reception or before the main programme, where the product can be positioned and lit properly rather than grabbed as a detail in the background of an event shot.
For brand activations (experiential stations, interactive brand displays, sampling or testing moments) coverage is treated as candid and journalistic rather than staged. The goal is imagery that captures the reaction and the brand context together.
A number of product launch projects have included an integrated photography and videography brief. For launches where a highlight reel or product B-roll is needed alongside the stills, a combined package is available with an associate videographer working alongside on the day.
Common questions
Questions about product launch photography in Cape Town
Can you photograph the product itself as well as the event?
Yes. Product detail shots, close-ups, brand angles, and contextual lifestyle images are a standard part of a full-day product launch booking. For more extensive product photography beyond the event context, a separate commercial photography session is typically better suited.
How do you handle the product reveal moment?
The reveal is treated as a priority moment in the brief. We agree in advance on the position, the sequence, and whether there are specific brand angles or reaction shots required. For staged reveals with controlled lighting, a second position may be set up during the pre-event setup window.
Can images be available for press before the event ends?
Yes. With the Full Day with Live Drops package, a curated set of selects is delivered within two hours of the event close, formatted for press release distribution. Individual press-ready selects can also be delivered sooner for specific editorial deadlines.
Do you work with brand and marketing agencies on product launches?
Yes. A significant portion of product launch work comes through agencies coordinating the event on behalf of a brand client. A shared brief is issued before the event to align on the shot list, usage rights, and delivery format.
Can photography and videography be combined for a product launch?
Yes. An integrated photo and video package is available with an associate videographer working as part of the team on the day. One brief, one delivery, and one point of contact across both disciplines. Typical video deliverables include a 60- to 90-second highlight reel and product B-roll footage.
How quickly are images delivered after the event?
Edited images are delivered within two working days as standard. The Full Day with Live Drops package includes a preview gallery within two hours of the event close for immediate press and social media use.
Do you carry public liability insurance?
Yes. Jürgen's Photography carries public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Certificates are provided with the booking documentation for venues and agencies that require them.
